Apple Cherry Crisp
How do you make Apple Cherry Crisp? Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Remove stalks from all cherries and remove seeds. Peel the apples, core them, then quarter them. Then cut each quarter piece into three pieces. In a large bowl, add cherries, apple slices, lemon juice, cornstarch, brown sugar, white sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Cast gently to combine. Pour the cherry mixture into a pan or a 2 quart casserole dish. In a medium bowl, combine yellow cake mix, brown sugar, salt and baking soda. Stir to combine. Add butter and cut into the mixture with a dough mixer or a fork of butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add crumbs to completely cover the cherries. Put in the oven and bake for 25-35 minutes or until the crumb coating is golden brown and the juice of the cherries is bubbling. Serve immediately or let cool and serve later. Particularly suitable is vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
